Just need a day trip out? Then bring your group on this one because you will want to jump off the boat and enjoy beach and coastal boating on the barrier islands, plus hilly sand dune habitats covered in sea oats that provide photographers and sketch artists with natural, sandy beauty and year-round subject matter.
Dog Island stretches for six-and-a-half miles but is only three-quarters of a mile wide, over 1,800 acres. It is located east offshore from Carrabelle and owned by the Dog Island Conservation District. Out here, shelling, crabbing and shore fishing can’t be beat and bird watching is an endless sport.
Enthusiasts can get caught up on their Life List identifications of numerous shore species. This feast of wing and flight is not limited to young osprey diving for fish, eagles nesting, sea gulls flocking, white pelicans catching bait and the seasonal migration of ducks. There are only 100 homes on this recreational boating paradise that feature no-irrigation landscaping using native vegetation and fewer than 30 full-time residents.
There are no tourist amenities on Dog Island, but there are campsites on its far points, and more than a day’s worth of great outdoors, and beach loving fun.
Look up, and shoot high, on this trip! Almost anything you find in the state of Florida you can see when it comes to birding in St. George State Park. Great blue herons reside here in abundance and oystercatcher populations are a common sight year-round. In addition, the landscape is chocked-full of canvasbacks, ducks and loons. At various times of the year, over 200 species of buzz-worthy birds will move through the region including kestrels and harrier hawks.
The area also has the largest over-wintering populations of snowy clovers and piping plovers on the Panhandle. Swallowtail kites, and Missouri kites, are favorites to watch swoon in the sky and the occasional solo falcon will appear.
Goose Island has two active eagle nests and a third is visible with or without a long lens between the primitive bayside campsites, and Marsh Island, where dolphins play. Underwater, be awestruck seeing stingrays on the flats and jumping mullet in the coves. Hopping over to Little St. George, and Marshall House, can be just how this trip ends with lunch or sunbathing on what feels like your own exclusive island.
Do you live the outdoorsman lifestyle? Then grab your gear and get aboard for a trip that will put you at the center of Old Florida History. St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge is only accessible by boat, and Capt. Davidson’s boat has the versatility and capacity to support true, outdoorsmen’s hobbies.
The reserve is home to several endangered species, and red wolves, have been introduced into a breeding program. On this trip, you will be exposed to an ancient art form and way of life and return with a sense of how wild nature can become, when it is left undisturbed. Bird Island sits on its Southern Gulf side that captures every serious Birders Interest with its seasonal bird migrations & breeding, including numerous Seabirds, White Pelicans, and more.
The island is home to the Florida Alligator which at times can be viewed walking down the shoreline looking for that perfect sunning spot. At the East end, one can find everything from shelling to a short hike through the Refuges Piney Trails.
Having fun boat riding is not just about fishing! On this tour, get away to the places rarely seen, where resident boaters go every single day! You won’t just go for a ride, because this trip is about taking a run, and full advantage of the freedom the Apalachicola River offers. Capt. Davidson ensures this experience is an idyllic adventure! In two-short hours, you will slink through the waterways of St. Mark’s Island and the Little St. Mark’s River.
Along this route, you will travel under the historical railway train tracks left over from the Lake Wimico line connecting with the town of St. Joseph. Depending on the season, you may see dolphins feeding, manatees sunning or otters playing. A mixed array of flora, and cypress trees line banks where turtles and alligators bask as you pass sunken shrimp boats on houseboat row, and spy osprey nests set atop channel markers.
For the amateur photographer, this place sparks inspiration, and tests skills with light and flight when wildflowers are in bloom and birds of prey including bald eagles are around. Everyone will learn to see this unique, and alive environment from a different perspective, and take home stories to tell.
Island Adventure Testimonials
I want to thank Captain Jeremy. My wife has not stopped talking about our trip. She had a great time fishing, watching the dolphins and was thrilled to shell on St. Vincent Island. What a great day to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Many thanks and looking forward to doing another trip in the future..

I can’t say enough about Jeremy and the special adventure we had catching loads of fish under very difficult foggy conditions between storm fronts! He was personable, prepared, very flexible and went the extra mile (literally) to put us onto fish. We targeted different types of fish in different locations and provided us with the proper techniques to be successful. My next trip to the area I won’t hesitate to contact Jeremy and Southern Salinity for another great fishing adventure and to share more fishing stories!

Such a great adventure with Jeremy! Very knowledgeable, friendly, enjoyable guide…we felt like we’d known him for years! Absolute best fishing day and captain in St George! Jeremy is so knowledgeable and fun to be around! I look forward to my next trip! We appreciated him listening to us sharing what we wanted to see during our sunset boat trip. We will definitely use Southern Salinity and Capt. Jeremy again

I can’t say enough great things about Captain Davidson and his charters! The fishing was terrific and Captain Davidson could not have been nicer. We had several teens with us and he was super patient with all of us! He’s a great fishing coach (with a great sense of humor) and helped us pull in some giant fish! It was our second adventure with him and we will definitely be going out with him again!

We scheduled a 4 hour tour with Jeremy to Dog Island. He took care of everything to & from the island. He was well stocked & very knowledgeable about the area. We made an extra stop at the East end of St. George Island & then watched / played with about 12 dolphins in the bay! Our 5 year old will never forget the experience! We highly recommend his services! We will be back next year!

Absolutely amazing! Jeremy goes above & beyond to please his clients. We always do charters when on vacation so when we met Jeremy we knew he was the best. His passion for fishing & nature really shines thru. We never once felt like he wasn’t happy to have us on his boat. Always accommodating, welcoming, and willing to go above & beyond to give you an awesome experience. He is full of helpful information and his willingness to share, whether it be shelling, fishing., or hunting the area , that info made us even more excited about the area. When you book with Jeremy your not a client... you become a friend! We will continue to call Jeremy for all of our charter needs. We also feel we have gained a lifetime friend!

I met Jeremy Online and told him what I wanted and let him do the planning. I couldn't ask for more. It's said the customer defines quality, and this was a quality outing from top to bottom. What I appreciated most about Jeremy was his low key approach to not just locating subject, but being able to photograph them in the best possible light. - I will definitely go out with Jeremy again next year.

Captain Jeremy provided our family of five (including children ages 1, 3 and 5) the most amazing experience during our vacation in Northern Florida. It’s incredible to meet someone who has found their passion and made a career of it. This guy immediately makes you feel safe and welcome on his boat. His love for his family is also very evident as he talks about them often. He went out of his way to personally ensure that each of us had a perfect day. He knew the kids liked dolphins and he made sure we saw dozens of them up close. He knew I liked photography so he made sure to show me the best photo spots. He knew my husband and kids liked shelling so he provided us a lot of time on two different islands to find a wide array of treasures. He knew my son liked bald eagles and wanted to try fishing and he made that happen for us. The attached are photos I took. But Captain Jermey offered to take a couple of us as well as part of our tour! I can’t wait to see them as well!

We spent 4 hours recently with Jeremy on his pretty new boat. It was a Fun and Fish Excursion since we had a 4 year old granddaughter with us. What started out to be a fun sightseeing trip around the bay soon turned into a wonderful fishing experience when Jeremy took us to his secret Tripletail spots. Within minutes of arriving at several of his spots, we hooked several 9-10 pounders that put up a great fight. We caught our limit and put several back that were just below legal size. Upon returning to shore, Jeremy filleted the fish and we returned home and enjoyed a fish feast that evening. If you've never had Tripletail, it is a blast! This Guy Know Tripletail!!! What a Blast!!!
